LIVESTRONG launches new online training

LIVESTRONG has launched a dynamic online training for health professionals focused on issues related to cancer treatment and fertility.

Even though more than 150,000 people diagnosed with cancer during their reproductive years, studies have found that health care professionals are still not informing nor referring patients to fertility preservation services at an acceptable rate. The LIVESTRONG Fertility Training for Healthcare Professionals was created to address this issue. The training helps health care providers:

  • Describe the main fertility concerns facing cancer patients.
  • Identify when to address fertility issues with patients.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills when addressing fertility issues with patients.
  • Recognize the importance of establishing a systematic approach to fertility issues at the learner’s institution and receive an introduction to that systematic approach.

The 45 minute online training is relevant for all types of health care providers; allied health professionals; administrators; medical, nursing and social work students; and others working in and outside of oncology. Our goal is to support ALL providers who interface with cancer patients at any level, in any setting. The training is accredited to provide one CNE, CME or CEU upon completion to Texas-based providers. The course can be accessed for free at train.livestrong.org.
