Reproductive Health Focus Group Paper Now Online

An exciting new publication, funded by the Center for Reproductive Health After Disease and the Oncofertility Consortium (P50HD076188), was recently published in the Journal of Early Adolescence. This work is one of the projects supported by the Education Core and has made tremendous progress over the past few years. Lead author, Lisa Hurwitz says "This is the first study to examine children's understanding of puberty and reproductive health in decades and will help to inform modern, developmentally appropriate reproductive health learning curricula."

Presentations from the 2015 Conference-Terri Woodard, MD

Dr. Terri Woodard, MD, Director of Oncofertility Service at MD Anderson, gave a talk at the 2015 Oncofertility Consortium Conference on the sexual health of young women who survived childhood cancer. The goal of her talk was to define sexual health and discuss how sexual development may occur differently in women who survive childhood cancer. Her talk prompted many questions and thoughtful discussion from patients and other participants in the audience.

Bioethics Today Series: The Ethics of Uterus Transplantation

The Oncofertility Consortium Launches the Latin America Oncofertility Consortium!

The Oncofertility Consortium and its Global Partners Network is happy to annouce its expansion into Central and South America. Dr. Jhenifer Rodrigues, the founder of the Brazilian Oncofertility Consoritum, has organized this network. Below is a blog from Jhenifer about her work!

 


 

The Oncofertility Consortium is happy to announce our extension in South and Central America, the Latin America Oncofertility Network, which is being organized by the leader Dr. Jhenifer Rodrigues, PhD, from Brazil, in collaboration with Lauren Ataman, the administrative director of the Global Oncofertility Network and Dr. Teresa Woodruff, the foundress and major director of the Oncofertility Consortium.

Presentations from the 2015 Conference- Courtney Finlayson, MD

Dr. Courtney Finlayson, MD, Endocrinologist at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, gave a talk on fertility preservation in disorders of sex development (DSD). Dr. Finlayson and her multidisciplinary team treat DSD patients at Lurie Children's. During her talk, she discussed the general risks to fertility in DSDs and the approach to care.

April 2016 Virtual Grand Round Now Online!

Last week, Dr. Teresa Woodruff gave an excellent Virtual Grand Rounds presentation entitled "Educating a Globally Prepared Oncofertility Workforce". She discussed many of the current oncofertility initiatives and discussed methods for setting up similar programs abroad. The recorded presentation is now available to view online.

Dr. Woodruff's presentation was the first presentation in the 2106-2017 Virtual Grand Rounds Series.

Dr. Gwendolgyn Quinn, PhD, Moffit Cancer Center, gave an oustanding talk at the 2015 Oncofertility Consortium Conference. Her talk: Do Ask and Do Tell: The Importance of LGBTQ Status in Reproductive Health visited the contemporary topic of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) research in the cancer, specifically, the adolescent and young-adult (AYA) community.
